The ProtectMarriage.com Educational Foundation seeks to inform citizens of the strong culture and societal benefits made possible by traditional marriage.
Marriage has historically been the most pro-child social institution. For thousands of years, societies and governments have promoted and honored the institution of marriage because of its benefits to children, and to society. Traditional marriage is intended to provide to every child both a mother and father who are accountable to each other, their children, and to the common good of the culture. The vast majority of research concludes that, whenever possible, children raised by their biological mother and father report greater mental health, higher levels of professional productivity, and the lowest levels of imprisonment.
Same-sex marriage would inevitably create conflicts for the rest of society who may not agree with this position. Such conflicts would appear in areas including, but not limited to, public school curriculum, employment law, and free speech.
