I’m certain you’ll agree that we’re in a good place…our ads are on the airwaves, we’re up in the polls and our volunteers are going strong. You might go so far as to think that we’re ok to sit back and wait for the election…because voters are sure to agree that marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman. Well, let me jar you out of this way of thinking because even though we’ve made a great deal of progress, there’s still no telling just how the majority of Californians will vote.
We can’t assume that because the majority of Californians are saying they will Vote YES on 8 now, they will do the same on Election Day. The No on 8 Campaign is working furiously to discount our messaging, to appeal to California with their underhanded tactics and to sway our voters into keeping same-sex marriage legal. They’re making urgent appeals for funds and they’re sure to get them.
This is why we must keep pushing forward. We have to be prepared to fight back! If you haven’t already, please donate or sign up as a volunteer. If you’ve already done both, encourage your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
And don’t forget, VOTE YES ON 8!
